Amna and Janine enjoyed a day’s volunteering at Wythenshawe Park in support of our community fund winner Cyril Flint.
Wythenshawe Games hosted 5 free fun filled days during the last week of July focusing on sports, health and wellbeing activities, with each day having a different target audience. On its opening day, Wythenshawe Park held its annual ‘Age Friendly Day’ with stalls, activities and free events targeted towards the over 55 population.
Cyril Flint were awarded £2,500 as part of our Community Fund which has helped towards their overall admin and operational costs. Our Communications and Corporate Services Officer Amna and Housing Manager Janine accompanied Cyril Flint staff who were there to try and spread the message about the valuable services that the organisation offers to lonely and isolated people in their own homes. The event was very well attended, aided by the beautiful weather and the array of activities available for the public to get involved in such as rock climbing, Zumba, football, karate, health and wellbeing stalls and free food tasting. Janine and Amna were on hand to help answer any questions regarding Cyril Flint’s operations and guided the interested public on the volunteer recruitment process.
The day proved to be a great success with the branded goodies going down a real treat!
