EMERGE 3Rs is a local charity managing both Fareshare and Touch Wood, charities working towards reducing food waste and helping to alleviate food poverty as well as upcycling and re-using unwanted wood.
If you live in Gorton, Droylsden or Abbey Hey then volunteering with either of these charities could be the perfect opportunity for you to help out in your local community. There are a number of exciting volunteering opportunities available to residents who have a few hours a week that they would be able to donate towards these excellent charities, both serving to tackle pertinent issues affecting the lives of many families across Manchester.
Volunteers are critical to the success of these organisations and you don’t even need any specific skills to volunteer with them; all of the necessary training can be given. You just need to be enthusiastic and eager to help!
There are so many reasons why people volunteer but the rewards are just as varied!
Not only do you get to be a part of a fantastic organisation helping to reduce food poverty for families who are struggling across Manchester, as a FareShare volunteer you also have the opportunity to help support vulnerable families across GM, reduce unnecessary food waste, gain valuable skills and qualifications in food hygiene and receive a reference after 3 months’ commitment. As a Touch Wood Volunteer Recycling Assistant, you can learn key woodworking skills and get some hands-on experience in a wood workshop environment. Out-of-pocket travel and lunch expenses are reimbursed for all volunteers. If you’d like to get involved, please visit www.emergemanchester.co.uk, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or give us a ring on 0161 223 8200. We’d love to hear from you!
