Working with Mancunian Way

We are quite sure that many of our customers will have already heard about Mancunian Way, a multi-award winning charity for troubled teenagers, set up six years ago by its CEO, Nick Buckley.

Nick worked as a Community Safety Co-ordinator, for Manchester City Council, at the time of the riots, in Summer 2011. His job was then axed, as a result of spending cuts but he used his redundancy money to set up Mancunian Way, aiming to stop troubled youths from turning to crime.

Six years on, Nick and his team work as street-based outreach specialists, across Greater Manchester.  Their work has expanded into new fields, including youth and community engagement and supporting vulnerable homeless people.

Mancunian Way works with a range of partners who help the charity financially, offer expert support and fund specific projects. At Arcon, we are very proud to have recently been added to the charity’s list of partners and fully endorse Nick’s statement that “we are about to start a mutually beneficial long term relationship, with Arcon tenants at the very heart.” We are cementing our relationship, with the charity, by providing some money from our Community Fund and working with Mancunian Way on their ‘Gorton Ambassadors’ project.

You can read a lot more, about the charity’s inspirational work, in reducing anti-social behaviour across Greater Manchester, by visiting their website here.
